Swisse NUTRA+ 2’-FL + Zinc Gut Repair

2’-FL HMO Prebiotic & Zinc Carnosine | Gut Repair Supplement

Australia's 1st 2'-FL HMO + Zinc Supplement, a daily peppermint chewable for gut and immune support. With 2'-FL, a HMO (Human Milk Oligosaccharide,) a structurally identical prebiotic to that found in human milk. This prebiotic exclusively feeds good gut bacteria - not the bad. Scientifically formulated to aid repair of gut wall lining and support the immune and gastrointestinal system health.

2’-Fucosyllactose (2’-FL) is a Human Milk Oligosaccharide (HMO) shown to act as a prebiotic exclusively feeding beneficial gut microbiota. Pre-clinical studies on 2’-FL (HMO) have also shown benefits in strengthening the gastrointestinal barrier and a role in modulating the immune system and preventing the adhesion of intestinal pathogens. 2’-FL (HMO) exhibits anti-inflammatory activity within the large intestine to support the strengthening of the gut wall and intestinal barrier

What are Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs)

HMOs, which are the third most abundant component of human milk, are complex oligosaccharides composed of unconjugated glycans. While more than 150 different HMOs have been identified so far, 2’-FL (HMO) is the most abundant and extensively studied among them. Most HMOs, including 2’-FL (HMO), remain largely undigested and intact as they reach the large intestine, where they provide physiological benefits to the host. These benefits have been extensively researched in infants, and there is increasing evidence supporting the mechanisms of action in adults through pre-clinical and clinical studies

Swisse NUTRA+ 2’-FL + Zinc Gut Repair — Key Benefits

SUPPORTS GASTROINTESTINAL WALL INTEGRITY

Zinc L-Carnosine (from polaprezinc) plays a protective role in healing wounds in the gastrointestinal tract. It exhibits protective qualities in the gastrointestinal mucosa, including safeguarding the intestinal lining from damage caused by medication-induced injuries. Evidence supports the safety and effectiveness of Zinc L-Carnosine in maintaining, preventing, and treating the mucosal lining and other epithelial tissues, as well as its use in repairing gastric ulcers and addressing conditions in the upper gastrointestinal tract, such as oral mucositis. Studies also suggest that Zinc L-Carnosine can help improve taste disorders.

Pre-clinical studies show that HMOs, such as 2’-FL (HMO), can safeguard and enhance the integrity of the intestinal barrier while reducing permeability by regulating the transcription of mRNA and the expression of mucin proteins.

MICROBIOME SUPPORT

Being resistant to human enzymatic activity, the majority of 2’-FL (HMO) remains undigested and reaches the large intestine. There, it acts as a prebiotic, which unlike other prebiotics such as GOS or FOS, 2’-FL (HMO) specifically promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria, improving the balance of gut microbes and normalizing colonic function. Research indicates that supplementation with 2’-FL (HMO) in adults supports the growth of bifidobacteria and increases the production of butyrate as well as other SCFAs. This can help manage symptoms in individuals with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and ulcerative colitis.

Zinc carnosine has been shown in studies to increase the cure rate of H pylori infection when added to the usual recommended antibiotic treatment regime.

IMMUNE SYSTEM SUPPORT

Preclinical studies have shown that 2’-FL (HMO) has immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects in the large intestine. It can inhibit the attachment of intestinal pathogens and prevent viral and bacterial infections. Additionally, 2’-FL (HMO) promotes immune balance by reducing the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines. By improving the environment for beneficial bacteria and directly interacting with the gastrointestinal mucosa, 2’-FL (HMO) can enhance both the innate and adaptive immune responses.

Zinc, an essential trace element, plays a crucial role in maintaining both innate and adaptive immune function. It is involved in modulating the proinflammatory immune response, managing oxidative stress, and regulating inflammatory cytokines.
